Marie Lockyer peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, on October 19, 2025 in Melbourne FL.
Marie was born on September 19, 1933 in Brooklyn NY where she was raised as the only child of Emma and Albert Dorsit. There she met the love of her life, John Lockyer. They married in 1956 and moved to Smithtown, Long Island. Marie and Johnny raised four children in idyllic Smithtown. The family has fond memories of days at the ocean, summer trips to Lake George and skiing in Mont Tremblant. Marie was a homemaker in every sense of the word. All of the neighborhood kids would gather at her home for meals, games and pool parties. She proudly attended all of her children’s events and family dinner was mandatory.
Marie always had time for her grandchildren, Ashley and Bonnie, whom she adored. She spoiled them with gifts, trips and even a horse! Marie is fondly remembered by her great grandchildren, Sophie and Baylen, whom she cherished.
Marie and Johnny retired to Spring Hill FL along with their lifelong friends Anita and Ken Roffe and Audrey and Bob Kennedy. There they enjoyed card games, golfing, fine dining and good wine.
Marie recently moved to The Fountains of Melbourne Assisted Living. Her eldest daughter Alice was able to visit her daily and take great care of her.
Marie was predeceased by her husband John Lockyer. She leaves behind her children, Alice Lockyer of Melbourne FL, Thomas Lockyer (Ed de la Torre) of Los Angeles CA, Susan Lockyer (Tera Arey) of Inlet NY, Eileen Puricelli (Tom Puricelli) of Orlando FL. Grandchild Ashley Westbrook (Cecil Field) and Great Grandchild Baylen Westbrook of Melbourne FL, Grandchild Bonnie Fotheringham and Great Grandchild Sophie DeForest.
A funeral mass will be held on October 29, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Palm Bay FL. Marie will be interred alongside Johnny at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL on October 30, 2025 at 2pm.
