Marilyn Squier McRae, 91, of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, died on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 1, 1934 in St. Petersburg, Florida, Marilyn was a 1952 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. She began her college studies at Stetson University before transferring to Florida State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She went on to teach elementary school students in both Arizona and Florida, a vocation she greatly valued. After leaving the classroom, Marilyn devoted herself fully to raising her children.
She made her home on Florida’s Space Coast, where she shared a full and loving life with her husband, Daniel D. McRae, whom she married on June 13, 1964. Together they raised their four children in West Melbourne. After their children were grown and Dan had retired, they moved to Indian Harbor Beach.
A woman of deep faith, Marilyn was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Melbourne. She was an active and devoted member of the Holy Trinity Altar Guild and Church Women United, serving her church community with quiet dedication and grace.
Marilyn and Dan found great joy in traveling, visiting many countries as well as exploring destinations across the United States. They also enjoyed time spent at the family’s condominium in Madeira Beach. Together, they rarely missed an opportunity to watch rocket launches from Kennedy Space Center, a pastime Marilyn continued to enjoy long after Dan’s death in 2009.
Social and outgoing, Marilyn loved reconnecting with her high school and college friends at reunions and deeply cherished the close relationships she shared with all of her family, friends, and neighbors. Her most treasured moments were visits with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Dennis (Janet) McRae, Daniel T. McRae, Mary Ann (Frank) McGann, and Ellen McRae. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Max McRae, Anjali McRae, Nick McGann, and Kate McGann.
Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel D. McRae; her parents, Thomas Squier and Donna Leiby Squier; and her brother, Lt. Colonel Jack Squier (retired).
Marilyn was deeply loved by her family and her many friends and will be remembered for her faith, generosity of spirit, and the warm smile that lit up every room she entered.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Melbourne, Florida, with date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at www.holytrinitymelbourne.org/give or to a charitable organization of your choice.
