Martha Griffin Kennon entered into Heaven on August 14, 2025 at the age of 95. She was born on February 22, 1930 to William Berry and Era Jemima Griffin in Plant City, Florida. After graduating from high school, Martha attended business school in Dothan, Alabama. She then worked at The Dothan Eagle before meeting and marrying her husband Jesse Kennon.

She was a devoted and dedicated Mom, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family. She was known to her family and friends as a faithful follower of Christ. She portrayed kindness, generosity, gentleness and a sweet spirit to all of her family and friends.

Martha lived a faithful life for the Lord serving in various churches as a Pastor’s wife supporting her husband in his ministry. She also served as a Preschool Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and served in the nursery. She was an avid gardener who loved working in her yard for many years especially growing her flowers.

Martha was predeceased by her loving husband, Jesse C. Kennon. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Bill and Arnold Griffin as well as her sisters, Ida Willard Watford, Marie Davis, Vera Pitts, Era Brown, and Alec Brackin.

She is survived by her three children; Ginger Muzzy (John), Craig Kennon (Vickie), Gayle Penn (Bruce); five grandchildren, Jennifer Hendry (Travis), Alicia Wampach (Kurt), Rebecca Brown (Jackson), Seth Penn (Chelsea), Joshua Kennon (Audra) and nine great – grandchildren, Zoey, Annalysse, Asher, Mason, Kipton, Abigail, Claire, Ethan, and Campbell. She was very excited to be told her 10th great grandchild would be born in January of 2026.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 with a service from 11:00-11:30 at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne, Florida. Graveside service will be on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 10:00 at Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, Alabama.
