Maxine Cherry Nohrr
Maxine Cherry Nohrr (82) of Melbourne, FL unexpectedly passed on February 28, 2024, surrounded by family. Maxine was born to the late Samuel Cherry and the late Gussie Cherry on May 11, 1941, in Jacksonville, FL where she lived with her parents and her beloved older brothers the late Charles Cherry and the late Ronald Cherry. She attended the University of Georgia where she was a cheerleader, and she later returned to Rollins College to complete her Bachelor’s of Science degree. Maxine owned and operated a travel agency, Travelmax, in Brevard County for almost 30 years, and she was the first President of the consolidated Melbourne/Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce. A highlight of her tenure as Chamber President was presenting an award to then President Ronald Reagan on behalf of Brevard County. In addition to traveling all over the world multiple times, she was also a very involved member of the community and was active in many organizations, including the Junior League, BCC Foundation Board, FIT School of Business Management Board, and Brevard County Civilian/Military Council. For many years, Maxine enjoyed playing tennis and snow skiing with the Space Coast Ski Club. A loving and devoted mother, she is survived by her spouse Donald Nohrr, and her daughters Barbara Nohrr and Juli Nohrr, as well as her sons in law Andrew Hoffman and John Willingham, and her grandchildren Mitchell Hoffman and Gabrielle Hoffman. A graveside service will be held at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL at 11 am on Monday, March 4, 2024.
