Raymond C.F. Smith, Sr., age 89, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026.

Raymond was born on August 28, 1936, in Winter Haven, Florida, to Ruben and Edith Smith. He later made his home in Melbourne, Florida, where he spend many years surrounded by family and friends.

A man who deeply loved the outdoors, Raymond found joy in hunting, fishing, gardening and nearly all outdoor activities. These passions reflected his appreciation for nature and the simple pleasure of life. He was a devoted family man and steadfast in his faith. Raymond was a Christian and his beliefs and guided him throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving children: Julie and (Joe) Evans, Raymond Smith, Jr., David and (Kelly) Smith and Mark (Mary) Smith. He also leaves behind a cherished legacy of 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Jean Smith, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Edith Smith, and his four brothers, Ruben, Leroy, Jack and Gene Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne, Florida. A viewing will take place at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m.

Raymond will be remembered for his deep love of family, his passion for the outdoors, and his unwavering faith. His legacy of love, strength, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
