Richard “Pee Wee” E. Harvey, 87, departed our world due to health issues on Thursday morning October 02, 2025 at Palm Bay Memory Care. He was born on June 04, 1938 in Melbourne, Florida son of Ralph Harvey and Sarah Richardson.
Richard graduated from Melbourne High School and was on the track and football team as well as drove the school bus his senior year. He got drafted into the Army in 1963 as a cryptograph operator during the Vietnam war.
He had three children from a previous marriage and married his loving wife Lana of 47 years who had three children he loved all his family very much.
Richard “Pee Wee” was known for his love of dancing, making up songs, kind heart, unwavering love for his wife, dog, and family, his love for telling stories of the past, he always had a listing ear without judgment, wonderful husband and father, friends and family would say he could bring a smile to your heart and laughter in your belly.
Richard “Pee Wee” retired after 41 years from the City of Melbourne as the Streets and Drainage Superintendent where he took pride in his work, always being honest and fair to all. His years of knowledge of the city streets and draining extended beyond maps or plans on paper. He cared about his employees and the public making some lifelong friends through his years of service.
He was preceded in death by his sons; Jimmy, RC, Peter, brother; Charles, wife Judith, and nephews Charles and Thomas along with his sister; Darline and husband.
Richard’s love continues through his wife; Lana, daughter; Patricia and husband Javier, daughter; Jerri and husband Bob, son; Phillip, niece; Crystal and husband Richard, grandchildren; Jaime, Miranda, Austin, Eva, Claira, Ashley, Zackary, Christopher, Darren great grandchildren; Briar and Georgia, as well as many other great grandnieces, and grandnephews.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 05, 2025 @ 11:30AM if attending arrive 15min early for procession line up in lane C.
