Sammie Louise Davis
Sammie Louise Davis was born on Jan. 22, 1934 in Hattiesburg, MS and passed away on Oct. 26, 2025 in Melbourne, FL.
Sammie graduated from Hattiesburg High School and attended Woman’s College (now William Carey University) in Hattiesburg. She met her husband, Stanley, when he was in the Air Force and stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. He was the love of her life. She supported her husband’s career by assuming household and family responsibilities, through many re-locations to states across the country.
Sammie enjoyed aerobic dancing and modeling, and was featured in many recitals and modeling shows while living in Maryland She was a member of the Woman’s Club (with whom she volunteered at retirement homes) and the Symphony Guild in Niceville, FL. She taught young children in Sunday School and volunteered in public schools which her sons attended. In the many places where she lived, Sammie was an active member in the church. She had a gift for telling funny stories about her experiences, including the memorable encounter of her Mississippi relatives with her husband’s family in Maine, lobsters, and a moose. She enjoyed music of various kinds and liked to sing along with pop tunes, hymns, and opera arias.
Sammie was predeceased by her husband, Stanley, her parents Sam & Velma Jones, sister Margaret Gemeinhardt, brother Luther Jones, nephew Terrell Rawls and niece Beverly Tinnon.
Sammie is survived by her sons Stanley (Nancy), Jeffrey (Louise), grandsons Louis and Philip (Kayla), great-grandchildren Louis Jr., Isabel and Christian, sister Charlotte (Richard) Constable, niece Cathye (Robert) Allen, nephew Prentice Jones and many friends.
