Theresa H. Shaffner

Born on January 7, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York
Passed on December 22, 2025 in West Melbourne, Florida

Theresa H. Shaffner, 75, of Melbourne passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Theresa was born on January 7, 1950 to Gertrude Murphy and Frederick Holshoe. Raised in Florida, she graduated from Melbourne High School where she met the love of her life Richard “Bill” Shaffner. Marrying soon after graduation, they lived happily together until Bill’s passing in 2017.

She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren to whom she was always “Memaw”. A night spent at Memaw’s house playing games was always special to all of them. She could often be found at the dining room table reading her bible or baking a batch of her peanut butter cookies that were loved by all her family and friends.

Theresa is survived by her two daughters Julie (Stacey) Estel and Jessica (Gary) Spaulding; 4 grandchildren Justin (Mara) Sumner, Brandon and Faith Estel, and Hayden Spaulding; great-grandson Jude Sumner; and sisters Trudie (Rodney) Peterson and Mary Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, mother Gertrude, father Frederick, brother Tommy, and sister Elizabeth.

Though she will be dearly missed and will forever remain in all of our hearts, Theresa loved the Lord and is now spending eternity with her Savior. This is not a goodbye but see you later. Details for a celebration of life to be announced by the family.

Our families were close especially our Moms. Theresa was a beautiful full of life and love lady. Exuded Joy in Jesus. Many fond memories growing up into adulthood. It was an honor to know her. My condolences to the family. I expect to see you again.

Theresa, my dearest Christian sister! You were always there for me. You rejoiced with me when I was happy and consoled me when I was sad. My heart is broken, but I know where you are ... in the arms of Jesus. I will see you again when it's my time. Until then, I have fond memories to make me smile and heal my heart. I can still hear your laugh. I miss you so much and always will til we meet again!💔😪🙏
