Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, tennis coach and naturalist, Ginny Mack leaves behind eight nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, devoted students, loving friends and an extended church family. She had a beautiful life, selflessly lived, with kindness, generosity and humility until her peaceful passing at home on May, 8, 2024. She was 99 years old.
Mary Virginia ‘Ginny’ Mack was the last of five children born in St. Louis, Missouri to extraordinary parents. She served her country with honor in the U.S. Coast Guard SPARS Women’s Reserves during the Second World War. Ginny served as a Professor of Physical Education at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida for over 20 years. In recognition of her stellar career as a Division 1 tennis coach, Coach Mack was inducted into the Rollins Athletics Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Hall of Fame in 1997. Ginny is greatly missed by all, but comfort comes in knowing she is in the loving arms of her Lord Jesus.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on July 26, 2024 at 11:00 am (arrive before 10:45 and park in lane A), 5525 U.S. Highway 1, Mims, Florida 32754.
A second Memorial Service will be held on July 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ, 2010 South Babcock Street, Melbourne, Florida 32901.

Miss Mack was my coach at Rollins College, my mentor when I coached there, but most importantly she was my friend. Our friendship went on for decades as I met her in 1975 and stayed in touch with her via phone calls, cards and visits to her home in Melbourne. She will be missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace.

In 1975 I met this wonderful woman at Rollins. She was the tennis and basketball coach and so many of us were blessed to continue to have a relationship with her all these many years later. She loved, accepted and encouraged all of us even when we didn’t have any idea of who we were or how out of control we were. She truly was a gem of a woman who impacted so many young lives in such a positive way. She will be missed very much.

On this Memorial Day, so fitting to take time and remember Ginny,..she was my dear friend and next door neighbor for 24 years.
Ginny was always so loving and helpful to me and my old cat whom she help and took loving care of during my long absences away from home.
Such a peaceful loving soul, I will miss her greatly. May her loving soul rest in eternal peace.
