It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Studly née Ruhmschottel, who died on July 21, 2026, at the age of 85.
Born on September 13, 1940, in Jersey City, NJ, Barbara lived a life marked by love, kindness, and devotion to family and friends. She was known for her sweet personality and touched countless lives through her long career as an executive secretary before retiring from Sprint after many years of dedicated service.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Stuart, and her husband, Tex Stuart; her brother, Henry Ruhmschottel, and his wife, Jane Ruhmschottel; her daughter, Linda LoPiccolo, and her husband, Vincent LoPiccolo; her son, Robert E. Studly, Sr. and his wife, Ann Studly; her grandchildren, Vincent LoPiccolo, Jessica LoPiccolo, Michael LoPiccolo, Amy LoPiccolo, Robert E. Studly, Jr., Eleanor Studly, Catherine Humphreys, Graeme Humphreys, Serra Fonte, and Nicholas Fonte; 13 great-grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Ruhmschottel, and by her beloved husband, Ernest E. Studly to whom she was married for 60 years.
Barbara enjoyed many years hosting the family for Thanksgiving dinner and camping weekends with friends in New York State before moving from New Jersey to Florida where she and Ernie continued their careers while enjoying the warm weather. They spent many happy days shrimping, fishing, and sitting on the beach, making memories that their family will cherish forever. She and Ernie loved ocean cruising and always had their next adventure booked. Barbara was an avid novel reader and loved an occasional visit to the casino.
Affectionately known as Grandma Suggies by her family, she will be remembered for her kind and gentle manner, her devotion to her family, and the warmth she brought to every room she entered.
Following cremation, a gathering in her memory for family and friends will be held on August 2, 2026 from 4-6 p.m., at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 Palmetto Ave, Melbourne, FL
Though she is no longer with us, her love, wisdom, and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Rest in peace, Suggies.
