Willa Davidsohn
Willa Davidsohn, born in July 1929 in New York, New York, went to her rest in June 2025 in Melbourne, Florida, at the age of 95.
She is survived by her daughter Rachel, her son Daniel (Colleen), her sister Fannie, her niece Lucy, her nephew Chris, and her two cherished (and spoiled) cats, Gray-boy and Fusser.
She was preceded in death by her beloved children Yael (Doug) and Michael.
Willa moved to Florida in 1962 and made her home in the same Melbourne neighborhood for over 50 years, where she became a true cornerstone of the community. Friendly, kind, and generous, she touched the lives of everyone she met. Her presence was a source of warmth, compassion, and quiet strength.
Willa lived a vibrant and passionate life. She had a deep love for horses, dancing, gardening, fruit trees, and cats. Her creativity shone through in her art—she enjoyed sketching, painting, silk-screening, and even pottery.
A lifelong dancer, Willa was a founding member of the Brevard Dancers and embraced a joyful variety of forms including square dancing, line dancing, contra dancing, Scottish, and English folk dance. Her love for movement and music brought her deep connection and enduring friendships.
She was also a proud member of the Rare Fruit Growers Club (now the Brevard Tropical Fruit Club), and planted tropical fruit trees in her own yard, at the local park, and at each of her children’s homes. Thanks to her dedication and care, generations of neighbors have enjoyed the delicious fruits of her labor.
Willa had a special place in her heart for animals. She was a quiet but unwavering advocate for animal welfare, supporting spay/neuter programs, rescue organizations, and the many stray cats in her neighborhood. Her compassion allowed countless animals to survive and thrive.
Willa will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted pet parent and pet grandparent, gifted artist, and a steadfast friend. Her legacy lives on in the gardens she tended, the animals she cared for, the dances she shared, and the hearts of all who knew her.
