Jerry Paul Haynie Jr
Jerry Paul Haynie Jr., 58, passed away peacefully in Melbourne, FL, on February 12, 2026,
surrounded by family and friends. Jerry is survived by his two children; his father and mother; his
grandmother; and his brother and sister, as well as many uncles and cousins.
An Ironworker since 1995 and a proud member of Ironworkers Local 808, Jerry was a brother to
hundreds, if not thousands, of people who were blessed to cross his path. One of the most
stubborn and most deeply loved members of his trade, he traveled this country chasing work,
leaving behind lifelong friends everywhere he went. To many, Jerry was like a crazy uncle and a
father figure; he was a larger-than-life mentor to countless men and women in the craft.
At the time of his passing, he was actively helping build a historic project that will carry mankind
back to the Moon and on to Mars. Like the solid brotherhood that never quits, Jerry never quit. He
will be missed, but he will never be forgotten.
Beyond the job site, Jerry was a devoted 5th-generation Freemason and a Past Master of his Lodge
in Winter Haven. When there was a dire need for someone to step up and fill a chair, Jerry was the
one who said, “Yes.” Even when the demands of his job and the challenges of the pandemic
limited his time, he made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He was a leader who
facilitated the sale of the old building and the purchase of a new home for his brothers, stepping
up exactly when he was needed most.
As his fellow Ironworkers say: “So don’t wait till the bye and bye to say a prayer to the One on High,
for the men on whom we all rely — bless the Ironworker in the sky.”
From the bottom of our hearts, your brothers and sisters thank you. You’ve done the work, Jerry.
Now rest easy and have your peace, our friend.
