Bertha S. Sink
Departed July 8, 2024 in Indialantic, Florida
Bertha S. Sink, 76, of Indialantic, passed peacefully on July 8, 2024 at home; she is no longer burdened by Parkinsons issues.
She was born May 29, 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina to William Penn and Margaret S. Frank Foxworth. Raised in nearby Mt. Pleasant, the family moved to Huntsville, Alabama during her teenage years, where she met her future husband . After their marriage in 1971, they lived in Los Angeles until relocating to Indialantic, Florida in 1977.
Bertha attended the University of Alabama where she obtained her teaching degree. She joined First Baptist Indialantic in 1978 and answered God’s call to work with children; she was passionate about them.
Her family includes her husband of 53 years Charles Sink; son Jeffrey Scott (Laura) Sink; daughter Christi Lynne (David) Zabinski; brother William (Apsley) Foxworth; grandchildren Chloe, Madison, Emily, Jacob and Cayden.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Penn and Margaret S. Frank Foxworth and her sister Helen Olive Kippes.
She was one of the founding staff members of the church preschool and she taught there for 18 years. She also led the Girls In Action for over 25 years. Although she served in other capacities; these two activities defined her life’s mission. Countless lives were impacted by her teaching, her gentle and sweet spirit, and her burning desire to impart a love for Christ and missions to her church kids.
Bertha participated in many mission activities sponsored by FBI including Seafarers, Meals on Wheels and Walk for Life. She would spend countless hours preparing crafts for her home and for her kid’s activities. She also was a good cook and learned good ol’ southern skills from her mother.
She had a true servant’s heart. After retiring, she helped take care of her parents and sister when their health deteriorated. Additionally, she helped to raise two granddaughters in their formative years.
Bertha was a very special Christian lady – beautiful both inside and out. Patient, quiet but strong, loving, generous and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She will be missed, but she’s walking and talking with Jesus now !
Her viewing will be at First Baptist Church of Indialantic, 170 Washington Avenue, Indialantic on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 11:15 am until the time of her funeral at 12 noon. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, Florida.
