Mrs. Carole Helton Cain, 76, of Indialantic, FL died peacefully in her sleep at 4:36 p.m., April 19, 2020 at Holmes Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

She grew up in Florence, AL and graduated from Coffee High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta social sorority and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. She taught third grade at Northport, AL Elementary School and was dearly loved by her students. She later successfully managed a retail shop on Fifth Avenue in Indialantic. She was also a member of the Junior League of South Brevard and the Garden Club by the Sea for many years. Due to her outgoing and warm personality, she made many close, wonderful friends during her high school years, her college years, and her years living in Indialantic. She dearly loved all of her family and close friends. She was also extremely devoted to animals of all types, especially the numerous cats and dogs which she adopted. There were very few times when she had less than two dogs in her house.

She was predeceased by her parents John Jackson Helton and Christine Gray Helton.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Bibb Cain III; two brothers, James Philip Helton of Gulf Shores, AL and John J. Helton, Jr., Florence, AL; a niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Helton Moss (Murray), Orange Beach, AL; a nephew, James Philip Helton, Jr. (Margaret), Augusta, GA; three grand nieces, Blair Elizabeth Moss, Jeanne Monroe Moss, and Myers Gray Moss all of Orange Beach, AL; two grand nephews, Jackson Boardman Helton and Hampton Gray Helton both of Augusta, GA; and a brother-in-law Hal Knight (Barbara) Cain and his daughter Angela Lynn Cain both of Mobile, AL.

In lieu of flowers, as a lover of all animals and especially dogs, we request donations be given to the ASPCA. Because of the restrictions imposed by the current COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no service at this time. A service and celebration of her life will be held Brownlie & Maxwell Funeral Home, Melbourne, FL at a later time.
