Charles R Leatherberry
Charles R Leatherberry, 88, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026. Charles was born in Wellsville, Ohio to parents Charles and Dorothy Leatherberry. He graduated from Wellsville High School and then joined the United States Navy. Following his Naval service, Charles relocated to Florida and enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the local aerospace industry. Mr. Leatherberry’s work took him from Alaska to Ascension Island and many places in between.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn Leatherberry. He is survived by his sister Karen Smith (Clyde); three children, Marilyn Chappie (Scott), Patricia Johnson (Donald), Charles Leatherberry (Maureen); and three grandchildren, Jessica Sylvester (Elizabeth), Kelly Hoyt (Tyler), and Charlee Leatherberry.
Charles Leatherberry, loving husband, father, and grandfather touched many lives during his 88 years on this earth leaving it a better place. He was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts and in his local church community. Charles will be fondly remembered for his calm demeanor, generous spirit, kind heart, and profound love for his family.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Anglican Church in Melbourne on Tuesday April 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Wednesday April 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Brevard Zoo.
