David Richard Boyd
Passed December 6, 2024 in Palm Bay, Florida
David Richard Boyd, born on December 18, 1939, in Salem, Illinois, passed away peacefully in Melbourne, Florida on December 6, 2024. David leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family and friends. David was married to Karen Boyd (Williams), for 60 years with whom he shared a devoted marriage beginning on November 27, 1964. He is survived by his wife, Karen and his two children Duane Boyd and Kristina Rose; his four grandchildren Ben, Dylan, Laurel Ann and Dean. David is also survived by a daughter-in-law Christina Boyd and a son-in-law William Rose and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.
David and Karen started their life together in Salem, Illinois where they welcomed their children Duane and Kris. In 1978, the family relocated to Indialantic, Florida. David was an installer/cable technician with BellSouth. He enjoyed many hobbies, like fishing and most of all scuba diving with his friends and children. He enjoyed it so much he took classes to become a Master Diver. He was very proud to show off his skills and be able to teach others what he knew, especially his children. He would bring home the biggest lobsters for us to enjoy throughout the season.
David was a straight-forward, “country boy” at heart. He loved wearing blue jeans, t-shirts and flip flops and hated suits and dressing up. He never candy coated anything and would always say “I’m just callin a spade, a spade.” David loved his wife and children, fiercely and never let a birthday, holiday or special occasion go by unnoticed.
Family and friends may call from 10 am until the time of his service at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024 to celebrate David’s life at Brownlie Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne. There will also be a celebration of life/graveside service in Salem, Illinois in February of 2025. Please contact the family for more information if interested in attending.
