Gary Alan Bollinger, a resident of Melbourne Beach, Florida passed away on June 23, 2024. He was 79.

Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on May 27, 1945 to Marjorie Berning and Earl C. Bollinger, the family moved to Florida in 1962. Gart graduated with Melbourne High School’s Class of 1963.
After two years of college, he completed his private pilot’s license, entered the United States Army, and married Sheila Ann Moore of Eau Gallie, Florida.

Upon returning to civilian life, Gary managed several businesses and earned his BGS and MBA degrees from the University of Central Florida. He worked at Harris Semiconductor as manager of strategic marketing.

Gary’s lifelong interest in aviation began with building and flying model airplanes as a young boy. He was a longtime member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and local radio control modeling clubs. Many weekends were spent driving to flying fields from Cocoa to Sebastian with stops at Valkaria and Palm Bay in search of the best air for flying his RC helicopters.

Gary had many interests including reading, playing guitar, machines and machining, watches and their repair, cars, motorcycles, airplanes, viewing motorsports and sailing.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother-in-law D. Wayne Ashby and son Peter Kelly Bollinger.

He leaves behind his wife Sheila Ann Bollinger; brother Charles R. Bollinger and brother-in-law R. Scott Ashby. Also missing him, niece Sandy (Tristan) Fiedler and children Max, Nina and Nash Fiedler; nephew Brian (Cari Steele) Bollinger and children Ben, Bekah, Brooke, Barrett and step children; nieces Pamela Anne Ashby and Noel (Paul Strabbing) Ashby; nephews Teal (Elisa Miller) Ashby and Blake (Dara) Ashby; nephew Donald Wayne (Julia) Ashby and children Nicholas, Spencer and Luke Ashby.

Gary preferred to have no ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please choose to give a home to a rescue animal or donate to a local pet recue organization in his name.
