Glenn Hoover Andersen, 76, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, Glenn was the son of John and Alice Andersen. In his early years, he enjoyed playing basketball and was a faithful churchgoer. He graduated from the New York School of Printing but ultimately pursued a lifelong calling in law enforcement.
Glenn served as a police officer with the New York City Police Department before retiring early and relocating to Florida. He then went on to serve an additional 25 years with the Brevard County, Florida Sheriff’s Office. He took great pride in his work and especially valued the lifelong camaraderie of his fellow retired NYPD officers. He was a longtime member of the 10 13 Club and proudly served as an officer within the organization.
In Brooklyn, Glenn met the love of his life, Tove, who had moved to New York from Norway in 1965. They were married in 1976 and shared 34 years together.
Glenn will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and loyalty. He had a deep love of sports, cherished time spent with friends, enjoyed giving nicknames, and treasured visits with his cousins. An avid reader, crossword enthusiast, and skilled teaser of his favorite people, Glenn lived with conviction, resilience, and joy.
Family was always at the center of Glenn’s life, and nothing mattered more to him. He is survived by his son, Brian Andersen (Kathy Hammond); his daughter, Kari Andersen Roll (Daniel); his grandson, Simon Roll; his stepson, Raymond Strand; step-grandchildren Sarah Johnstone and Erik Strand; and cousins Ann Egeberg, Roy Lindland, Jill Migliaccio, and Doug Olsen, along with extended family in Norway, where his family’s roots began.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tove Elisabeth Andersen; his parents, John and Alice Andersen; his older brother, Jervid Andersen; and his cousin, Gene Olsen.
A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. in Wickham Park in Melbourne, Florida.
Glenn was the very best G Pop, father, and husband, and he will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Thank you for all the fun times we Erik and Elinor had with you Glenn both in Melbourne Florida and in Halden Norway. Too bad you didn't get the chance to win back the dollar Erik won the last time you played golf. Rest in peace Glenn.

Glenn you will be forever missed, remembered and loved. So many wonderful times spent together. You and Sue coming up for our Maine get togethers almost yearly. You dear friend walking on the soft green grass without your shoes on. Us coming down to Florida and lunching on oysters and looking out at your beautiful ocean. These things we will hold dear. Rest in peace dear Glenn.♥️
