James Jeffery Cole, 64, of Melbourne, Florida passed on November 2, 2024 in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on December 8, 1959 in Oahu, Hawaii to Milton “Jim” and Mary Louise Hammond Cole.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Peggy Cole; son Jeffery Cole of Merritt Island; grandson Jace Cole; step daughter Shannon Adams of St. Cloud, Florida; granddaughter Emma Adams; step daughter Charity Cannon and step granddaughter Leah Reynolds of Port Orange, Florida. He is also survived by his brothers Matthew, Steve and wife Becky of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

James was predeceased by his parents Milton (Jim) and Mary Cole.

Known to some family and friends as JJ, he served honorably in the US Navy for 8 years as a search and rescue swimmer, helicopter mechanic and crew chief of the CH 46 helicopter. He put together a video as a tribute to the CH 46.

James was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and served in the choir. He loved to study KJV Bible Prophecy and the Rapture as well as pass out Chic tracs.

He was an avid surfer and surfed hurricane waves in 2014. He said he probably jumped out of a helicopter in every ocean in the world. He has a large collection of helicopters, books and movies.

A funeral for James will be at 9 am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Heritage Baptist Church, 700 Hollywood Boulevard, West Melbourne, Florida followed by US Navy funeral honors. Burial will be a 1:30 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida
