Joanne Delores Granning, born on January 18, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, to Andrew and Gertrude (Teipel) Wouters, passed away on July 9, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida, at the age of 90.
She was the beloved wife of Ronald Granning, whom she married on October 19, 1957. Joanne was a steadfast supporter of her husband throughout his career, often entertaining guests and preparing delicious gourmet meals. She took great pride in her home, which she said her occupation was a “Domestic Engineer”, maintaining a spotless environment. Together, Joanne and Ronald lovingly raised their three children and, after retirement, embarked on numerous travels in their various motor homes, exploring both the states and abroad.
Joanne was a proud Detroiter and a fervent fan of the Detroit Tigers and sports in general. She cherished watching all kinds of sports and loved regaling her ten grandchildren with stories of her youth, when she participated in sports. She continued to enjoy watching sports and recalling the names of many players until her final days.
Beyond her love of sports, Joanne was a gifted watercolor artist, a skilled sewer, quilter for family and charitable organizations, and a passionate flower arranger. She was a long-time member of the Farmington Garden Club, where she participated and won competitions for her works. Joanne was also a dedicated volunteer, generously donating her time to numerous organizations in both Michigan and Florida.
A devout Catholic, Joanne was deeply committed to prayer and attending Mass. In her last few months, she found comfort in watching Mass daily. Her unwavering faith and her family were the central pillars of her life.
Joanne is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Ronald Granning. She is also survived by her devoted children: son Kristoffer and Lindsey (Schneeberger) Granning, daughter Karen (Granning) Griffin, and son David and Christine (Yochum) Granning. She leaves behind her ten grandsons: Anders and Shannon Granning, Evan and Kortney Granning, Stefan Granning, Robert G. Griffin III and Samantha Griffin, Alan and Kayla Griffin, Tim and Casey Griffin, Erik and Brandi Granning, Neil and Jenn Granning, Joseph and Jennifer Granning, Patrick and Amy Granning. Joanne had fourteen great grandchildren that brought immense joy in her later years.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Andrew & Gertrude Wouters, father and mother in laws Ole and Lydia Granning, sister Gertrude Houthoofd and husband Donald Houthoofd, and sister-in-law Marilyn Lucas and husband Ken Lucas.

A catholic mass will be held September 12, 2025 in Boyne Falls Michigan at St. Augustine Catholic Church. 10:00 am visitation with Mass at 11:00.
