John Haddix
John Haddix went home to our Lord and Savior on January 24th, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.
John, younger brother to Sharon, was born August 24th, 1959 in Springfield Ohio to Elsie and John Haddix. As a child he enjoyed being a Boy Scout, playing sports, being a hockey fan. After graduating from Baker High School in Fairborn Ohio, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served our country for 4 years. During his time as a Marine, John was awarded the Rifle Marksmanship Badge as well as a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Being a very patriotic man, John was proud and honored to have served his country.
John was employed for a sign company while living in Ohio and held a variety of other jobs including driving different trucks. After moving to Florida he worked with Glover Oil in Melbourne and his last job was with Frank-Lin Services of Brevard. He was a part of many demolition jobs at NASA and more recently the Cape Canaveral Hospital. John was so proud of his work and would often show others photos he took from the work done. He spoke highly of his coworkers and considered them family.
John was a sports fan. He grew up watching the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals, but embraced his life in Florida and quickly jumped on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ship. One of his favorite memories was getting to see the Bucs play with Tom Brady as the quarterback in really good seats, with his daughter Lexi. John was also a fan of NASCAR for many years, especially of both Earnhardt drivers, as well as Kyle Busch. He went to the Daytona 500 on a regular basis and took Lexi to a few races. Professional sports was not the only thing John enjoyed rooting for. He loved to watch any game his daughter was playing. Whether it was basketball, softball, or volleyball, he was there to cheer her on.
Being a music fan, concerts and festivals were something he attended often. Not only did he go to see rock bands, he also sat through an entire Taylor Swift concert, not once, but twice, just because his daughter really wanted to go.
After settling into Florida life, John found his home at Faith Fellowship where his faith grew. He was involved in many church activities over the years, including being apart of the men’s group, volunteering as an usher, and serving on the security team, a role he took great pride in. John was a man of God and made the decision to be baptized in March 2024.
Throughout his battle with cancer, John was surrounded by an outpouring of love and support from his friends, coworkers, and church family. Their prayers and words of encouragement gave him strength. Many sat by his bedside, offering comfort and support during his fight with cancer. Homemade meals, grocery drop-offs, and transportation to appointments and church were provided, ensuring he never felt alone. Every act of kindness, from heartfelt cards to quiet moments of prayer, was greatly appreciated by John.
John fought bravely until the end, finding peace in knowing he was going home to Heaven. John was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He leaves behind his daughter Lexi who was at his bedside the last few days of his life where his favorite Christian songs were played, friends came to say their goodbyes, and many prayers was said. May he rest in eternal peace.
