Kathleen “Kitty” McGuire (née Gibson), aged 102, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, in Melbourne, Florida. Born on December 11, 1921, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Kitty moved as a child to the United States, where she lived in New York City and Jersey City, New Jersey, with her parents Hugh Montgomery, and Annie Nicol Gibson, her brothers Tommy, Gordie and Hughie Gibson and her sister Maureen Rowe. She eventually settled as a young wife and mother in Melbourne, Florida, where she embraced a life marked by dedication to her family, church, and community.
Kitty served with distinction in the U.S. Navy during World War II, a testament to her courage and commitment to her adopted country. After her military service, she devoted herself to her family as a homemaker, also contributing along the way to the communications industry as an electronics technician with AT&T and to the healthcare sector as a hospital lab technician; roles she performed with meticulous care.
She was a long-time and active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Melbourne, where she formed many treasured friendships and was involved in various community services.
Kitty was the beloved wife of Francis McGuire whom she married on married September 4, 1948, and a loving mother to Kenneth McGuire, Michael McGuire, and Rosemary White. She was also a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren Andrew, Kathy, Jackie, and Peter McGuire, Kim LaQuire, and Elizabeth and Thomas White as well as a devoted great-grandmother to two great-grandchildren Marissa and Seth LaQuire. Her family was her pride and joy, and she nurtured each relationship with love and kindness.
Kitty was preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Anne McGuire, her parents, Hugh and Annie, her brothers Tommy, Gordie and Hughie, and her grandson, Thomas White.

Family and friends will celebrate her life on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 2 pm. Kitty’s life will be celebrated and remembered for the profound impact she had on those around her, leaving a legacy of love and service.
