Laura L. Brown

Born on April 17, 1935 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania
Passed May 28, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida

Laura L. Brown, age 90, of Melbourne, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Laura lived a life marked by faith, joy, and compassion.

A devoted follower of Christ, Laura was passionate about living for both God and country. As a born-again Pentecostal, her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being baptized in Jesus’ name and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. She spoke often of her faith with heartfelt gratitude, and it was her prayer that everyone in her life would come to know the same spiritual transformation. Her faith was the center of her life and a guiding light for her family.

She loved her church and her independence, and she approached every day with a spirit of curiosity and delight. Her hobbies included sewing, writing, and collecting joyful, lighthearted treasures, from figurines and Pez candy to puzzles. She brought fun with her wherever she went.
Laura was known for her humor, kindness, and generous heart. She always found ways to lift others’ spirits and lend a helping hand. Though she held various jobs throughout her life, it was in caregiving that she found her true calling, a vocation she embraced fully before retiring. Her devotion to church, family, and those in need defined her legacy of love and service.

Laura was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Brown, who passed in 1988, and by her cherished daughter, Lizette Graeber, who passed in 2022.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Ada Bowen, and her devoted son-in-law, Timothy Graeber, who was married to Lizette and cared for Laura as his own mother for over 40 years. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jesse, James, Falicia, Tiffany, Lorissa, Nicole, Heather, and Travis, and a growing legacy of great-grandchildren. She lives on in the hearts of those she cared for and those who loved her.

A funeral service honoring Laura’s life will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Eastwind Pentecostal Church, 1021 Emerson Drive NE, Palm Bay, FL 32907. Her viewing will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

Laura was a very special person and a great friend to my mother. She was definitely spunky but had a sweet tender side as well. Prayers and love for the family during this time of sadness but joy comes in the morning!

A very dear and cherished friend who will never be forgotten. I will see you again in heaven. Your BEST MALE FRIEND, rudy. My prayers are with the family.

Sis. Brown and the Graeber family were so kind to us when we relocated to Palm Bay. They made room for us in their holidays, at their dinner parties , and in their hearts. I will miss Sis. Brown’s mischievousness. She always had a twinkle in her eye and showed her love for God in her worship and her love for people. I sure will miss her whenever we visit Palm Bay, but I rest assured knowing this is not a final goodbye. One glad morning…!

I will always remember Grandma! She was hilarious, sassy, and spoke her mind. I have two memories that are my particular favorites with her that include her usual spunk and antics. One was when someone she didn’t particularly enjoy walked into a restaurant and got seated nearby. She loudly expressed, “Oh dear lord!” with a big eyeroll and Lorissa and I were mortified (though it was humorous), because they for sure heard her. How I loved her. Jesus be with you, Uncle Tim, Lorissa, and all the family as you grieve this loss. We love you.

My dear Sister Brown you were a sweet, sassy, speak your mind nicely, kinda a friend and Sis in Christ. Loved it all, as you were the week before your passing, when we visited, genuine, caring to the end. A witness for YAH to the end. 🙌🏾 You took to my son Sean or I should say, our son Sean, expressing your love for him every time we met. Thank you for loving and caring for him, it meant a lot. In our last conversation you so wanted to go home and we made plans for my visiting you there, well sadly it will not happen here on earth, however we will see each other again in our final home. Rest in peace Sister Brown with your loving Father at your side!!🩷🙌🏾🩷💐🌻

Laura Brown was remarkable! She was real and authentic. Her love for God was evident, and she approached life with true confidence. Laura’s wit and humor were unmatched. She always made us laugh and brought true light to every conversation. I will miss her, but her smile and warmth will live on in my heart. ❤️ I look forward to seeing her again soon. Love you, Laura.

Though our time together was brief, her warmth and gracious spirit left a profound mark on my heart. She welcomed me with a love so genuine that I felt as though I were family. It was a reflection of the grace and kindness that flowed so naturally from her soul. I thank God for the light she shared and the quiet strength of her presence. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of the Lord she so clearly carried within her. “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:21

I loved her like she was my mom. She always had advice, whether you wanted it or not, but you knew she loved you, so you took the advice and tried to grow and be a better Christian. She loved to talk about Jesus to anybody and I admired that about her. She loved her family and her friends.. and I know she loved me as much as I loved her. The last thing she said to me was, “I love you Annie”. And that, I will cherish forever. Forever and always in our hearts.
Tiffany Jackson from Paducah wrote on June 4, 2025:
Thank you Grandmom for being such a strong woman, starting a whole other generation after generation of strong women. It is because of you that us women in the family are so strong. Thank you for being the coolest Grandmom ever, you definitely should have gotten those spinners though. Thank you for all of the explosive birthday cards, the kids finally mastered how to open them. I will miss my morning and bedtime messages. Though you never got to meet Jon in person we both are so thankful you got to video chat with him. As promised I will make sure Christian and Camrie never forget you. We all love you so dearly. I will love you till the sun dies. -Love Tiffany, Jon, Camrie and Christian (your "Little Jimmy").

Grandma, I will always cherish the laughter we shared and the precious moments we spent together. Through grief and sorrow, we helped each other heal. Your independence and sassiness were something I always admired, you lived life boldly and never shied away from speaking your truth. You taught me how important it is to stand up for myself and for what is right, but to do so with grace and compassion. You were an inspiration in staying true to one’s character, and above all, in remaining Christ-like. Your absence will be felt deeply, but I find comfort knowing that you are truly home now. PS: We will keep your pranking legacy going With love- Lorissa
