Lawrence Richard Batterson, born on June 20, 1936, passed away on December 28, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, gentleness and love. He was lovingly known as ” Larry” to many and Dick to his family in Washington.

Born in 1936, Larry’s journey was marked by bravery, honor, and dedication. His service to the nation as a retired Air Force veteran spanning 27 years is a testament to his unwavering commitment, dedication and sacrifice serving his country, a commitment that resonated throughout his life. Beyond his military service, Larry was a pillar of strength and love for his two sons, touching the lives of countless individuals with his warmth, wisdom, and kindness.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Aida Batterson; son Lawrence Batterson and his extended, loving family.

Lawrence’s memory will be forever cherished by his family, fellow veterans, and friends. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the full life of a remarkable man who brought pride, joy, and love to all who knew him.

A memorial service with military honors for Lawrence’s life and service is being planned at Our Lady of Lourdes (1626 Oak Street, Melbourne, FL 32901) on Saturday February 10th at 1pm followed by Florida Memorial Gardens (5950 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955) at 4pm. All who wish to pay their respects and honor his memory are welcome to attend.

It's so hard to believe that Larry and Aida have gone on to Heaven and won't be blessing our paths with their presence. They were both very nice and will always be remembered fondly for their kindness and gentle ways. May your families cherish your memories and embrace the future. We will see you in Heaven!

We befriended Larry during the years with resided in Melbourne, and we lamented that we didn’t meet him many years before that. Larry was a person loaded by God with all good stuff.
