Leslie Weaver Cooke

Departed August 1, 2024 in Rockledge, Florida

Les Weaver Cooke was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran who was awarded 3 Bronze Stars with Valor and 3 Purple Hearts.

He was born to Weaver Cooke and Glenna Sue Thompson on June 8, 1945 in the hills of West Virginia. Leslie was survived by his wife, children and grandchildren until he passed on August 1, 2024 in Melbourne, Florida. He lived 49 years of marriage with his wife Marcia Lynn Cooke and fathered one daughter, Heather Kruse; he was a stepfather to Jeffrey Senters and the late Daniel Senters. Les has 3 surviving grandchildren Daelin Kruse, Kamrin Kruse, and Quinn Tiernan.

Les was not only a war hero but a skilled mechanic and collector of International Harvester Farmall tractors. He had a love of gardening, nature, guns, and family. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer or joke he didn’t want to hear. A man of integrity and honesty, he was full of love and understanding. A mild mannered man who was warm and welcomed all, he will be truly missed.

Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10:00 am; followed by graveside service at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1, Mims, Florida at 1:30pm.
