Marilyn Ethel Ferraris, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2024 at 6:48 am.
Marilyn was born in San Francisco, California on January 11, 1934 to Pauline and James George Harris. Following her high school graduation, Marilyn attended San Francisco State College prior to joining the Women’s Army Corps. She played flute in the WAC band and also enjoyed performing in musical shows and theatre productions.
Marilyn married Glenn Conard Reece and raised two stepsons, Glenn, Jr., and Gary. In 1957, they welcomed their son, Mark.
She received her teaching degree from Rawlins College, and she was a dedicated elementary school teacher for 30 years.
In 1976, Marilyn married Robert Ferraris. Bob and Marilyn enjoyed 48 years of marriage and enjoyed time spent with their blended family. They shared a love of music, and both played for many years in the Melbourne Municipal Band, Bob on trumpet, and Marilyn on flute. She enjoyed her involvement with the local Antiques and Collectibles Club and always looked forward to sharing items at their monthly meetings. Marilyn and Bob also were very active in ushering at the King Center.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents George Harris and Pauline Tafoya; her brother James Harris; her stepson Gary Reece and her husband Robert Ferraris.
She is survived by her son Mark (Susan) Reece; granddaughter Emily Rampe and great grandchildren Sophie and Nicholas Rampe and by her stepchildren, Glenn Reece, Jr., Karen O’Toole (Tommy Young), Tracey (Robert) Flicker and granddaughters Allison (Gabe) Cohen and Lauren Flicker as well as great grandsons Cameron Reid Cohen, Kevin Ferraris, David (Karen Schaffran) Ferraris; and grandsons, Kai and Cole Ferraris. Marilyn is also survived by her brother Bob Harris as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 10:30 am at Trinity Wellsprings Presbyterian Church on South Patrick Drive in Satellite Beach. A military honors service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 9 am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 Highway 1, Mims, Florida 32754.
