Morgan (Pete) LeRoy Wilt
Beloved husband and father Morgan (Pete) LeRoy Wilt went home to be with Jesus on August 16, 2024. Pete was born in 1929 to Paul E. Wilt, Jr and Lulu Jacobs Wilt in Phoenixville, PA and grew up in nearby Mont Clare PA, working at Keinard Brothers Sporting Goods and as a butchers apprentice before graduating from Phoenixville High School. After graduation, he worked briefly at Phoenixville Iron Works before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Pete served from 1948 until 1956, including 1 year in Korea as a Technical Sergeant in the 1st Marine Division Marine Signal Battalion. He was also stationed at the Naval Ordinance Department in Keyport, WA, Camp Pendelton, CA, Camp Lejeune, NC, and Quantico, VA. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant before leaving the Corps to attend Drexell University, graduating in 1960 with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
While in the Marine Corps he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Cole Wilt, and they were married for 70 years before he passed.
After graduating from Drexel, they moved to Manchester, CT and where he worked at Pratt & Witney. In Manchester, Pete and Beth had a son and daughter. Pete later joined Combustion Engineering (ABB) and specialized in refractory insulation and heat transfer. He developed a patent for a water-cooled furnace door. Pete retired from ABB after 30 years.
After retirement, Pete and Beth moved to Hendersonville, NC, and lived there for over 20 years before moving to Melbourne, FL, to be closer to family.
He was a loving and supportive husband and father who loved to spend time with his family camping, hiking, bodysurfing, canoeing, target shooting and gardening. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts and at church.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son John Wilt and his wife, Lisa Jean, daughter Lisa Anne Wilt, granddaughters Bonnie and Carly Wilt and his sister Betty Lou Krumannocker. All will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Keichel and brothers Paul E. Wilt, III and Robert J. Wilt.
A private memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd, Melbourne, FL, with internment at Cape Canaveral Veterans Cemetery.
