Richard was born in Washington D.C on December 23rd, 1942, to Margaret Hagerty Bahr and Alfred Bahr. Richard was married to the love of his life, Glenda. He enjoyed retirement life in sunny Florida. He was a devoted husband, father, friend and neighbor. He spent a career as a tradesman working in the local #100 sheet metal union and serving on the board of trustees. While raising his family in Northern Virgina he volunteered in his community to coach softball, building playgrounds, and assisting with various scouting projects. He was always willing to help a neighbor and a man curious about life with a zest for lifelong learning. In his free time, he enjoyed working with his hands on any “honey do” projects, boating (and repairing his boat), riding his bike, yard work, reading and walking his beloved pups Micky and Lulu.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Glenda Colley Bahr, His son Matthew Allen Bahr (Heidn), his daughter Kristi Ruben (Andrew), two grandsons Sawyer Allen Ruben (Anna) and Reece Issac Ruben (Ashlyn) along with a new great grandson, Hudson A. Rich will be missed by so many. He was such a wonderful man who my family was proud to call friend. He could always make us laugh-remember the raccoons and his new truck on the camping trip? He could always be counted on to help with any chore. He was an amazing tour guide when we came to visit. He and Glenda will always have a special place in my heart.

Dad you are missed- you loved me unconditionally. You were kind and always willing to help in any way possible. What I loved most is your playful spirt. You were always ready to ride a bike while I ran just to keep me company. Many fond memories fill my mind and as I recall you playing games with your grandsons, teaching them skills that will last a lifetime and truly loving them. Thank-you for being an amazing Dad.

Pawpa, as I know him, was and will always be a role model to me. He was devoted to his family, had a passion for learning, and was always crafty with his projects. The last time I spoke to him, we talked about quantum computing and blockchain - an amazing testament to his desire to learn. I can only hope to have that character, strength, wisdom in my life. He will not be forgotten, instead carried with us everyday.

I was fortunate to get to know Richard and his lovely wife Glenda over the past 20 years in Florida! Richard came to visit our family in Jacksonville several times where we shared memorable dinners and many laughs. Richard also hosted us on his boat for a few trips in Melbourne, FL to go fishing with our boys Patrick and Matthew. Fishing all day with smiles on our faces and again creating countless memories. We will miss Richard very much as I looked at him as an extra uncle in life! Always generous with his time and love to friends and family. God Bless you my friend & rest in peace. Love, Charise, Tom, Patrick & Matthew Photo to follow from a great fishing trip with Richard

Richard and I were childhood buddies and remained close until his passing. We got into a heap of trouble together as kids but always seemed to come out fine at the other end. It is difficult to think of a world without Richard for me, because he was always there for me when I needed him. I will always miss him and most especially our fishing trips together. He was beloved by my entire family and everyone lucky enough to know him.
