Robert “Bob” Sessler Hughes

Born April 10, 1949 in Pearisburg, Virginia
Departed June 28, 2024 in Palm Bay, Florida

Robert “Bob” Sessler Hughes of Melbourne Florida, joined his Savior, Lord, and King on June 28, 2024 after suffering a stroke which lead to pneumonia and post-op complications.

He was born in Pearisburg, Virginia to the late James Earnest Hughes and Mary Sue Hughes. He grew up in Tazewell, Virginia and was a graduate of Tazewell High School where he was a part of the high school band for the Bulldogs. He graduated from Tazewell Community College.

Bob worked with his father in their family businesses which included the Clinch Theater, the Drive-In Theater, the Flea Market, the Arcade and the Silk Screening Business. While living in Virginia, Bob heard the gospel and received salvation. He would later serve in various church ministries though out his lifetime. He moved to Palm Bay, Florida in 1982.

He married Elsie Saldarriaga in 1993. He was very much in love with her and they continued to love each other deeply throughout their marriage. It was truly a match made in heaven.

Bob worked for Alphatech Systems, Inc. as Quality Manager for 25 years, and later for Sunburst EMS Cable Division. He loved studying the Bible. He also enjoyed music (especially playing the drums), skiing, paintball, old movies, and war history. Bob and Elsie enjoyed their Friday night
dates, traveling together and spending time with their family.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Elsie L. Hughes; four daughters Traci Harrison, Linda (Kenneth) Jernigan, Crystal (Kohl) Witmer and Rebecca Hughes; seven grandchildren Andrew, Natalie, Benjamin, Timothy, Noah, Livia and Lauren and his brother Lewis.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the William Childs Hospice House for providing exceptional care for Bob, and to the church family and friends for their support, comfort, and prayers during this difficult time.

His viewing will be from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church of Palm Bay.

Bob was one of my best friends. I met him shortly after moving to Florida. Always had interesting stories to tell me. I will dearly miss all our good times at work.

Elsie and family, I pray that the Lord God will wrap His arms around you at this time and help you to know that your loved one is with Him in Heaven. Elsie, I remember many times serving together in the nursery at Riverside Baptist Church years ago. I always thought of you and your husband as a fine Christian couple. I know that at this time of loss you WILL cling to the knowledge that your hubby IS with Jesus and cling to the Lord for strength, comfort, peace and guidance. May God continue to be the center and walk with you through this valley and on the path ahead of you. Blessings, thoughts and prayers... Christina C. I had the absolute pleasure of working with Bob at Sunburst for the past 6 years. He always brought a smile to my face and was loved by many there. We had a lot of great conversations and memories together as team. I cannot express how very sad I am to not have him around anymore, but I do take comfort knowing he is with our Lord. May God bless your family during this difficult time.
