Passed February 25, 2025 in Melbourne, Florida

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger William Hanright, age 83, of Melbourne, Florida, who passed away on February 25, 2025.

Born on August 30, 1941, in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Roger lived a full and meaningful life, one marked by devotion to his family, his work, and his faith.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jean Milton, and two cherished sisters, Carolyn Ripley and Jeanette Tuinman. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly Hanright, and his children, Carrie Garrison and Chris Hanright (married to Robin Hanright). Roger was a proud and devoted grandfather to Garrett Hanright (married to Brooklyn Hanright), Tyler Garrison, Brett Hanright (married to Courtney Hanright), and Baylee Howard (married to Douglas Howard).

In his later years, his great-grandchildren, Arliss Hanright, Stella Howard, and Lettie Hanright, were a special source of joy in his life. Roger was known for his passion for animals, including his pet tortoise, Cecil, and his loyal dog, Milton. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved all creatures, great and small.

A skilled ironworker and fabricator, Roger worked tirelessly throughout his career. In 1967, he moved from Nova Scotia to Massachusetts for work. Eleven years later, in 1978, he moved his family to Melbourne, Florida, Where they would settle for the rest of his life. He took great pride in his work and the life he created for his family. Roger met the love of his life, Beverly, at a beach in Nova Scotia, and their bond lasted through six decades of love and partnership. Roger was also an avid golfer, a supporter of the Wounded Warriors, and someone who cherished his time watching his grandchildren’s sports games. He was exceptionally proud of their accomplishments and loved seeing his great-grandchildren grow.

Roger was surrounded by loved ones when he passed, and his family takes comfort in knowing he was deeply cherished by all who knew him.

He was loved tremendously, and his kindness, tenderness, and love for his family were the cornerstones of his life. His love for Jesus and his family was evident in all aspects of his life. He looked forward to the day he would be reunited with his mother in heaven. His legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A private celebration of Roger’s life will be held for his family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, an organization he has faithfully supported.

Roger’s family is comforted by the knowledge that he is now at peace, resting in the arms of his Savior. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
