She was also a proud great-grandmother to Erin, Logan, Daniella, Matthew, Christopher, Molly, Lorelei, Alivia, Theodore, Brady, Hudson, Pierce, Oliver, and Shepherd, as well as a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Ethel’s life was a beautiful tapestry, woven with threads of family, faith, and art. Growing up in the bustling areas of Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, she married the love of her life, Earl, in 1953. As a devoted Air Force wife, she journeyed with her family across the globe — from the Philippines, Crete and Azores, through various adventures in Vermont, S. Carolina, and Virginia, then settling in Central Florida in 1972.

A gifted artist, Ethel’s passion for ceramics spanned over 70 years. She created a nurturing space at Riverside Ceramics in Indialantic, Florida, where she generously shared her love for the craft with everyone who stepped through her door. Her shop was a place where creativity blossomed, and friendships flourished. After moving to Melbourne in 1996, her creative spirit continued with friends and neighbors in her kitchen and garage.
Never one to shy away from competition, Ethel found immense joy in card games and dominoes, always with a twinkle in her eye and laughter in her heart. Her family and friends often quipped that she possessed an uncanny ability to turn even the most casual game into a spirited affair, as she gently ribbed her opponents while making them feel at ease.

Ethel adored music and dancing, eagerly seeking her next jitterbug partner wherever she could find one. Whether at a family gathering or a community event, she would light up the dance floor, embodying the carefree spirit of youth that never left her. Her love for dancing extended to square dancing, where she thrived on the excitement of spirited calls and lively rhythms, effortlessly drawing others into her joy.

In her younger years, Ethel was an avid bowler, often seen with a determined look as she aimed for the perfect strike. Her competitive nature flourished in bowling alleys, where her infectious enthusiasm encouraged friends and family to join in the fun. Her vibrant personality and love for fun created lasting memories, illustrating her belief that life should be celebrated with laughter, love, and a little friendly competition.

Ethel’s kindness was immeasurable; she had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone she met, turning acquaintances into friends with her warm smile and open heart. As a devoted Christian and a cherished member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Indialantic, Ethel was an active participant for over 50 years. Her unwavering faith and commitment to serving others exemplified her deep Christian values. Whether it was volunteering to deliver food with Meals on Wheels, leading church activities, or providing support and comfort to those in need, Ethel’s life was a testament to her belief in the power of love and compassion.
