David B. Caulkett

Departed in Melbourne, Florida, on June 16, 2019
David B. Caulkett, 59, of Melbourne passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (soon to be great grandfather) and brother. David was full of life and energy. On any given evening, you could find David in his garage (his “man cave”), listening to music, with a beer in his hand, waving and talking to all his neighbors and friends.
David met the love of his life in 2001, Karen. He loved to joke that “I stole her away from another guy.” He was fiercely devoted to the life they had together. David and Karen loved each other …”forever and a day.”
David is fondly remembered by his son as an avid story teller. He loved to share family stories and history with everyone. He was adored by his grandkids and known as “Pop Pop Dave”, with a bigger than life personality.
David loved the city of Pittsburgh and his Steelers football. During football season, Sundays were spent at Crickets watching the game or at home smoking and grilling. David’s family loved his superstitious approach to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also spent countless hours “manicuring” his lawn.
Survivors include his wife Karen, son Nikolas Slomiak, daughters Karen Galbreath (Shawn), Jennifer Jaeger (Shay) and Clara Sanborn (Steve McFarland), nine grandchildren (Ariana, Anthony, Conner, Austin, Aubrey, Brady, Cayden, Collin, Alexa {his “Lexi Lu”} and one great grandson on the way, brothers James (Judy), sister Barbara Caulkett, four nephews (Jamie, Jeremiah, Emerson [Lindsay] and Virgil) and one niece (Jennifer [Kenneth]), three great nieces (Katherine, Elizabeth and Mattea) and one great nephew (Dymitri). David was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and James and a sister, Janice. He held a very close relationship with his Aunt Norma and Uncle Ernie, who reside in Pennsylvania.
Our David will be greatly missed. We know he is in the loving arms of our Father. We will always “loves ya”.
A Celebration of life will be Wednesday June 19th from 3pm-5pm at the Brownlie – Maxwell Funeral Chapel.
