Kari Lynn Simonson, 50, was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 12, 1970 to David Arthur and Judith Lynn Sloan Simonson. She passed on September 10, 2021 in Rockledge, Florida.

She moved from the Bahamas in 1973 and grew up in Indialantic, graduating from Melbourne High School. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in nursing from Florida international University and then went on to get her Masters degree and Doctoral degrees in Nursing from the University of Florida. She worked as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice for over 25 years, touching many lives in Gainesville, Tampa and Melbourne. An accomplished horsewoman, Kari competed in dressage. She also had a black belt in taekwondo, loved the beach and Gator football.

Kari was dearly loved by her mom and dad David and Judy; her daughter Mia; two sisters Kristy and Kim; her three nieces Gigi, Shelby and Sadie and her nephew Braeden.

She lost a long battle with Covid-19. As a family practitioner, much of her life was dedicated to caring for others. Her smile would light up a room and she offered that light to many, especially her daughter Mia. Unfortunately at 50, Kari never dreamed she and Mia would not have many more years of experiencing life together, enjoying the milestones of Mia’s senior year including prom and graduation; through college and beyond. She is loved and missed by so many.

There will be a memorial and paddle-out at Paradise Beach on Oct 17, 2021 at 9:00am in her honor.
