William “Bill” Dooley

William “Bill” French Dooley, 69, named after his maternal grandfather David Williams French, of Palm Bay, Florida passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021. Bill was born in Bluefield, WV on April 29,1952. His family moved to Brevard County from Charlottesville,VA in 1961. Bill was a retired Battalion Chief for the City of Melbourne Fire Department where he worked for 33 years. He spent many years as an instructor at the Fire Academy at Brevard Community College, now known as Eastern Florida State College, where he was always eager to teach and discuss what he knew about firefighting skills. He was also an exceptionally skilled woodworker creating many beautiful things, always leaving his artistic signature of a piece of English Ivy.

He is survived by his two sons, Brent and Brandon Dooley and a stepdaughter (whom he thought of as his daughter) Beverly (John) Edge, grandchildren Madison, Emiliana, and John Michael and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister Barbara (John) Schmitt and one brother John (Patti) Dooley; half-brothers Wallace Kesler, Jr., Paul David Kesler, Eddie (Sherri) Dooley, Bobby Dooley; half-sisters Lynne (Larry) Barker, Jenny (Keith) Greer, and stepmother Martha Dooley.

He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Nell, his mother Mary French Kesler and stepfather Wallace Kesler; his father Marion Ralph Dooley and grandson Joshua Edge.

A service will be held August 7th 1200PM at the Melbourne Church of Christ located at 810 Hollywood Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32904.
The procession following the service to Internment Service August 7th 200PM at Florida Memorial Gardens located at 5950 US1 S, Rockledge, FL 32955
