James Stanley Kopatich
James Stanley Kopatich, 89, of Merritt Island, Florida, formerly of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Jim was the beloved husband of Carole Kopatich. He is survived by his children, Dennis (Patti Soden) Kopatich, Wendy Kopatich, and Sue Yeager (Darren Adams); grandchildren, Mia Kopatich, Kristi (Matt) Lange, and Dan Kopatich (Sophia Barbosa); and great-grandchildren, Gracelynn and Colton Lange. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stan and Mary Kopatich, and his brother, Stanley (Jr.) Kopatich.
Following service in the National Guard, Jim was the longtime owner of Oconomowoc Tool & Die Corporation. He was active in the Oconomowoc community and held memberships in the Oconomowoc Chamber of Commerce, the Elks Club, the YMCA Century Club, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and the National Small Business Association. He also served on the Oconomowoc City Council.
Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially hosting gatherings as a proud grill master. He loved boating on Okauchee Lake and was known for hosting the annual lake fireworks display. His interests included travel, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, karaoke, and testing his luck at the casinos. He spent many years in Eagle River, Wisconsin, surrounded by the nature he loved, and later resided on Fowler Lake near family before returning to Florida.
Jim will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
A private family celebration of life will be held.
