William Michael Lettiere, 91, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, surrounded by his Family.
Born on October 10, 1934, in Watertown, New York, William was the son of JosephLettiere and Pasqualena Signorile Lettiere. He was raised and lived in Watertown and carried with him throughout his life the values of hard work, faith, dedication, helping others and family.
William proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1962, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 7th Radio Relay Squadron. During his military service, he was stationed in Poitiers, France, where he met the love of his life, Renee Latu Lettiere. The two soon married and began a lifelong journey together.
Following his time in France, William was stationed in Alaska and later Biloxi, Mississippi, before settling in Melbourne, Florida. He accepted a position with Radiation, Inc., where he contributed to the development of advanced radio communications, telemetry, and antenna technologies supporting the United States space and defense programs. When Radiation, Inc. merged with Harris Corporation in 1967, William continued his distinguished career, ultimately rising to the position of Director of Railroad Engineering and Technical Services. During his tenure, he also worked on projects involving computer guided locomotives and the Alaska Pipeline, leaving a lasting impact through his engineering expertise and leadership.
William enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including fishing, softball, and bowling. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. A man of deep faith, he devoted more than 58 years of volunteer service to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, generously sharing his time and talents with his parish community.
William is survived by his daughter, Christina (Scott) Altenhof; his son, Thierry Lettiere; his grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley Perrino) Lettiere, TJ Lettiere Jr., and Brittany (Ryan) Erentreich; and his five great-grandchildren, Harley Lettiere, Bella Lettiere, Noah Lettiere, Zoe Lettiere, and Jackson Erentreich. He is also survived by his sisters, Angela Bombardo of Florida and Anne Conto of New York.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Renee H. Lettiere, and his grandson, Bryan Lettiere.
William will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his distinguished military and professional service, his steadfast faith, and his generous spirit. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and, in the family, he cherished so deeply.
A life celebration will be held on 10/9/2026 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parrish with a full military funeral to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Our Lady of Lourdes School in honor of William & Renee Lettiere as he and his wife Renee were deeply devoted to the school and parrish.
