“Capt” Samuel W. Winstead, Sr. Born in Lexington, MS on August 2, 1949. Went to his heavenly home on June 17, 2018. Born to James and Minnie Winstead, survived by his wife, Patricia Winstead, brother, Leon (Flo) Winstead, sister, Phyllis Diane Pigg, son, Samuel W. Winstead Jr, daughters, Melissa (Mark) Harpold, April (Paul) McGee, grandchildren, Joshua Dorr, Kirstyn Howell, Thomas Harpold, Tyler (Shelby) DeFrece, Taylor (Ben) Newton, Blake Harpold, Kaitlyn (Andy) Donna, Jonny Winstead, Sophi Harpold, Myli Harpold, Christian Winstead, and Josselyn Winstead, great grandchildren, Samuel Ellis Harpold, Grayson Andrew Donna. He was preceeded in death by his parents James and Minnie Winstead, grandsons Justice Winstead and Nathnael Harpold
Samuel served Cocoa & Cocoa Beach as a Police Officer where he received many awards for meritorious service as well as Security for Kennedy Space Center until wounded in a training excercise. While working as a DJ for Lite Rock 99.3, Sam pioneered the first on air traffic reports for Brevard County.
After retirement he enjoyed painting, making greeting cards, & cooking for his friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held for him at the Eau Gallie First Baptist Church on Saturday June 30th from 10am to 1pm
