Charles E. Clements, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Born August 18, 1929 in Howell, Michigan, he was the son of the late Gail Hamilton and Helen Gertrude (White) Clements. A Korean War veteran, Chuck received his B.S. in Geology and military commission from Michigan State University in 1953. After graduating from flight school in Class “R” at Bartow Air Base, Florida, in 1954, he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, serving at bases in the US and Africa. On June 12, 1954, Chuck married Mary Lucille Frost of Bartow and moved to their first assignment in Texas. After leaving active duty, Chuck accepted a position with RCA at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, in 1958, where he remained until his retirement with RCA-GE in 1991. An active Florida citrus grower, with groves in Polk and Hillsborough counties, Chuck enjoyed working in the groves full time upon his retirement. Chuck is survived by Lucy, his wife of 63 years; daughter Suzie (Jeff) Raines, grandchildren Kendall (Garrett) Lollis and Chelsea Clements, brother Bob Clements, sisters-in-law Eunice Clements and Johnnie Mae Hahn, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Charles Clements, Jr.; siblings Ruth Moore, Wilmer Clements, and Barbara Needham; sister-in-law Pat Clements; and brother-in-law Jim Needham.
