Gloria E. Stebbins

Born July 20, 1928 in Long Island, New York
Departed August 14, 2024 in Melbourne, Florida

Gloria E. Stebbins of Cocoa, age 96, passed away on August 14, 2024. Gloria was born on July 20, 1928 in Long Island, New York. She was predeceased by John, her husband of 50 years. Gloria is survived by her sister Mildred Cournoyer; her children Sherry Daugherty, Randy and Kenneth Stebbins; her six precious grandchildren Scott and Randy Daugherty, Christopher and John Stebbins, Melissa Morgan, and Andrew Stebbins and her 7 (plus one on the way) great grandchildren John Daugherty, Blake Schmidt, Ryan and Kayla Stebbins, Molly and Nate Stebbins, Brooks Stebbins, and baby Morgan. She dearly loved her son-in-law Ray Daugherty and daughters-in-law Joan and Janet Stebbins. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the absolute light of her life who she adored immensely.

Gloria was extremely sharp and had a knack for numbers which drove many years of an impressive career. During her 50 years in Florida, Gloria worked as Head of Management Services for Kentucky Fried Chicken of Florida, Financial Vice President of Terry Corp, and Controller of Air Compak International. After she retired from Air Compak, she became a volunteer Mediator for Brevard County Civil Mediation Program for 10 years where she was highly successful in helping many Brevard residents.

Gloria had many interests and talents that she was able to share with her family and friends. From roller-skating in her early years, to her gift for playing the piano, to traveling the world in her later years and then her famous drawings and floral arrangements…she could do it all! Above all, Gloria was beyond generous, supportive, and proud of each and every one of her family members and cherished friends.

A celebration of Gloria’s life will be on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 1 pm at Lost Lakes Clubhouse, 140 Lost Lakes Drive, Cocoa, Florida 32926.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gloria may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or American Cancer Society:

Sherry, Randy, Kenny, Ray, Joan, Janet & families, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I will always remember the fun times we had on the beach. My mom was very fortunate to have called Gloria her best friend. I remember her telling me how grateful she was that your mom inspired and coached her to go into the accounting field which made a significant change in my mother’s life. They had many good times together with all of us! God bless her and your wonderful families.

RIP my beautiful Mom! You were so loved by your family and friends. You accomplishments included important positions in the business world, a mediator in the Florida courts, sketch artist, silk floral arranger, piano player, “kiddie car” driver and most importantly, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. I will miss you forever and will think of you at 8:40 PM every night which is when we had our nightly chat about the doings of Lost Lakes. Love you so much, Mom!
