Jack King passed away peacefully on February 3rd in Palm Bay, Florida. He was born on October 20, 1931 in East Orange, New Jersey, and lived a life rich in love, purpose, and service. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jack moved to Brevard County to begin working for Pan American Airlines where he met his future wife, Martha. They married in 1959 and together, they raised three children: Tara, Todd, and Craig.
A dedicated and highly successful businessman, Jack was a cornerstone of both his community and his church. He founded and operated a thriving diaper service for 29 years, and after, he grew Custom Sod Installation into a rewarding family business. His entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic were only matched by his dedication to others.
Jack’s presence in the community of Grant was felt by all. He was a fixture at the Grant Seafood Festival, where he volunteered in a variety of roles for over fifty years. As a founding member of Palmdale Presbyterian Church, Jack remained an active and devoted worshipper throughout his adult life.
A loving family man, Jack cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was known for his storytelling, always ready with a humorous quip or anecdote that brightened the room. Jack’s active involvement in the National Rifle Association and his annual attendance at their banquet with family further reflected his passion for the causes close to his heart.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Martha, and his parents, William and Jane King. He is survived by his brother Doug (Carole) King, as well as Jack and Martha’s three children: Tara (Mark) Howard, Todd (Maria) King, and Craig (Sandy) King; his cherished grandchildren, Lindsey (George) Von Edwins, Cameron (Jocelyn) Howard, Alex (Wesleyanne) King, Jared King, Isabelle King, and Caelan King; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Morgan Von Edwins, Bodie Howard, and Weston King.
