Mark A. Jean, of Melbourne, Florida passed away on August 1, 2024, after a courageous 9-month battle with cancer. Surrounded by his loving family and close friends, he was 62 years old.
He was born on January 8, 1962 in Nashua, New Hampshire and moved to Melbourne in the 1960s, where he built a life full of service, love, and laughter.
Mark proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy veteran aboard the USS John F. Kennedy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate. After his military service, he dedicated over 35 years to the Brevard County community as a security guard.
He is survived by his wife, Marcie Jean; his three children Mandy Jean, Maranda Jean, and Mark Jean and his four beloved grandchildren, who were the greatest joys of his life. Mark was a devoted husband, father, Pop Pop, brother, friend, and sailor.
Known for his sense of humor and infectious laughter, Mark had a special gift for making up songs and rhymes that brought joy to his family, friends, and coworkers. He was a diehard Chicago Bears fan, a US history buff, a Christian, and a Trekkie, not necessarily in that order.
His Funeral Mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 N. Harbor City Boulevard, Melbourne, Florida 32935 on October 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Toys for Tots, a charity dear to Mark’s heart. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and he always believed that every child should experience the joy of receiving a toy during the season.
