Numa Augustin (“Bud”) Boudreaux

Born November 16, 1940 in Ville Platte, Louisiana
Departed August 19, 2024 in Melbourne, Florida

Bud was born on November 16, 1940 in Ville Platte, Louisiana. He spent most of his young life in Lake Charles, Louisiana surrounded by his many Cajun relatives including his mother Cecile and brother Richard.

Bud joined the US Navy in 1959 where he served as an Electronics Technician. In 1963, Bud enrolled at the University of Louisville where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. It was during this time that Bud met and later married Donna Margaret (Hackney) Boudreaux on June 19, 1964.
Upon graduating from university, Bud entered Officer Candidate School and earned a commission in the US Navy. During the next 11 years, Bud served as a US Naval Surface Warfare Officer, earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During his final four years in the Navy, Bud was assigned as an Instructor at the US Naval Academy, in Annapolis, Maryland. Teaching the young Midshipmen was Bud’s favorite experience during his 20 years of service.

Upon retiring from the Navy, Bud worked in the defense industry – initially at Harris Corporation as an electrical engineer, and later for Northrop Grumman where he rose to the level of Vice President. His final position at Northrop Grumman was Joint STARS VP Airborne Surveillance.
Bud retired in 2002 at which time he and Donna travelled extensively, spent time at their second home in West Virginia, and kept many casinos profitable.

Bud was known as a rabid University of Louisville Cardinals fan often traveling to the NCAA tournament to watch his Cardinals compete. He also loved his horse racing (especially the Kentucky Derby!), researching and documenting his family’s ancestry, and the collecting of stamps. And his most notable passion was doting on and spoiling his two grandchildren.

Bud is survived by his brother-in law Glenn Hackney; daughter Desma (Boudreaux) Cowhill and her husband Joseph Cowhill; son Glenn Scott Boudreaux; granddaughter Jennifer Cowhill, grandson Patrick Cowhill and his wife Nathalia (Ricardo) Cowhill.
