Margaret Skelton Withrow (Betty), 79, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2026 at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Born on March 4, 1947 in Memphis Tennessee, Betty was the 5th of 7 children was a cherished daughter of Edward and Martha Skelton. She moved to Melbourne Florida in 1958 with her entire family and has been a resident ever since. She lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, strength, laughter, and a willingness to help anyone in need. She had an active career working as a project manager for Harris Semi-Conductor in Palm Bay Florida in their engineering lab, and for Brevard County, as a trailblazer in the Mosquito Control Division as their first ever female specialist for south Brevard, helping keep Brevard County resident safe from infectious diseases. She retired in 2008.
Betty has been a long-time member of the Cornerstone Church of God and had many passions in her life. She enjoyed traveling, cruising, visiting relatives and friends, and sharing memories of her large family with all that knew her. A renowned storyteller, Betty had a unique way to engage anyone struggling, with words of comfort and care. She had a southern charm, quick wit, warm smile, and adventurous spirit. Her generosity and ability to make others laugh, touched the lives of many, and she leaves a caring legacy that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her Husband of 59 years, Larry Lee Withrow Sr. Two sisters Jacquline (Jackie Bernard), and Marilyn (Tootie Withrow): Four brothers, Charles, James, George, and Wayne Skelton.
She is survived by her three sons, Larry Withrow (Sara), Timothy Withrow, Mark Withrow (Christine), and one daughter Tonja Flannagan: 12 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and a multitude of extended family.
Services will be held at Cornerstone Church of God, 311 E. Hibiscus Blvd, Melbourne Florida. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cornerstone Church of God in memory of Margaret Elizabeth Withrow.
