Michail Theologos Chanou

Born January 1st, 1952 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Passed away August 25, 2026 in Palm Bay, Florida

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our husband and father, Michail Theologos Chanou, 74. He was born, raised and lived most of his life in Thessaloniki, Greece but more recently was a resident of Melbourne, FL. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia Chanou (nee Burrough), his children Kendra Simon (Daniel), Krissy Papadakis (Chris) and Alex Chanou (Marika) and his grandchildren Rick, Michaela, Kylar, Amalia, Phillipos, Leandros, Matthaios, and Paris. He is also survived by his siblings Theano Georgiadou, Andonis Georgiadis and Aggelos Chanou. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ioanna Georgiadou, his father Theologos Chanou and his beloved great aunt Rosalia Simou (Lalou).

Michalis, as he was known to friends and family, worked for many years as an export sales manager of a textiles company in Greece and traveled a lot for business in Europe and North Africa. He spoke 3 languages fluently. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, scuba diving and boating and loved to rescue stranded boaters or stuck vehicles as it gave him the chance to use his fancy jeep and boat gadgets. Michalis was a man of integrity and strong moral compass, he was sensitive, kindhearted and selfless. Most would know him as a quiet presence in most rooms, but his friends and family knew him for his quick wit and his love of a good joke. He was not outgoing but his nature drew people to him.

Michalis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched with his kindness, strength and quiet wisdom. He is now at peace, free from pain, and reunited with those who went before him. May his memory be eternal.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and details shared with friends and family at that time.
