Marilyn Elizabeth Aagaard Martin, on August 7, 2026 after a long illness peacefully passed away in her home with her entire family present at the age of 87 years old.
She was born in Easton Pa, January 30, 1939 to her deceased parents, Stanley A Aagaard and Ethel (Smith) Aagaard. Also pre deceased siblings
Sister Kathleen Violet Aagaard Crooks and Brother Dr. Stanley Anderson Aagaard II, She is survived by Husband of 64 years Evan F Martin, Son David Evan Martin (Susan) Orlando Fl,Daughter Laura Elizabeth Martin Armul (Bradford) Melbourne,Fl .Grandson, Evan James Martin Orlando FL,Granddaughter, Jeri Lynn Martin, Orlando FL. Granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth Armul, Melbourne FL.
And numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn and Evan were married in Durham Lutheran Church, Durham, Pa in 1962, Marilyn graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a BS in Education in 1961. And completed graduate courses at Lehigh University Bethlehem Pa. She was a teacher in the Easton Area School System and taught second grade at Palmer Township Elementary School for six years. After a full time teacher she was a substitute teacher and did private tutoring.
In 1973 she and her family moved to Melbourne,Fl ,due a job transfer for her husband.They quickly settled in the beachside town of Indialantic. FL. They remain there to present day. With two young children, 5 year old David and10 month old Laura, Marilyn had plenty to do caring for her young family and did not resume her teaching profession in FL. However, she soon discovered there was an art museum in town and before long she became a member and volunteered at the Brevard Art Museum. There she studied the art of basket making and soon began exhibiting in local art shows as well as the museum itself and art studios in Colorado.When the stress on her arthritic fingers occurred she then launched a long time desire to write children’s books. She ended up publishing three books under the series name Friends Forever. The books were for young readers and focused on family life on a ranch in Colorado. She was proud to include grand parents, due to the love she had for her Grandpa Aagaard, his Danish relatives were always of interest to her. During her writing career she was a member of the National Association Of Pen Women as well as a local group of authors.
Marilyn was a quick learner, and had many areas of interest. She was an avid reader, loved books on bird watching, wild animals, history of the west and the American Indians, the Battle of Little Bighorn, the Indian massacre at Wounded Knee, all of which we traveled to. Marilyn’s family history on her mother’s side told of an Indian Woman taking the Christian name “Margaret “ and marrying into her mother’s relatives. This has always spurred her interest and the reason our home library has so many books on American Indian history.
She covered a lot of ground in her life, always wanting to learn more and more. She loved people and they loved her. Every where we went she made friends. She had the personality and ability to converse with people from all walks of life. Always wanting to hear their stories and the lives they lived.
Marilyn, my love, I was blessed to have you in the past 80 years of my life. I will miss you forever as long as I live and look forward to when we meet again in heaven above to resume our life and love forever and ever,
