Kevin E. White, 66, of North Smithfield, RI, passed away peacefully on September 9 in West Melbourne, FL, following a sudden illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones during his final moments.

Kevin was a graduate of NSHS and continued his education at the RI Trade shop School in Providence, where he began building the foundation for a lifelong career in HVAC. He entered the field in 1985 and, through hard work and determination, opened his own business, KMW HVAC, in 1988. Kevin took great pride in his work and the relationships he built with his customers over the years. He retired on December 31, 2025, looking forward to the next chapter of his life.

In retirement, Kevin planned to spend his time at his home in West Melbourne, Florida, alongside his life-long partner of 19 years, Kristine Chmiel. He had a love for camping, traveling, and snorkeling, creating countless cherished memories along the way with family and friends. Kevin had a passion for adventure and discovering new places, and he often spoke of his dream to take one year to visit all 50 states in their camper.

Kevin will be remembered for his kind heart, his quick wit, and his ability to make others laugh. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a remarkable talent for fixing just about anything, earning him the nickname “MacGyver” among those who knew him best.

He was predeceased by his father, Donald White; his mother, Barbara (Fiske) White; and his sister, Cathy Tardie. Kevin leaves behind his loving partner, Kristine Chmiel; his brother, Paul White (Jane); his stepchildren, Nicholas Lafleur (Brittany), and Jessica Lafleur (Michael); and his son, Jesse White (Shannon). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Kevin’s memory will live on in the laughter he shared, the kindness he showed, and the countless lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made online at Make a donation Health First Hospice or sent to Hospice of Health First, 1350 Hickory St, Melbourne, FL 32901.
