Shirley Frances Young
Shirley Frances Young, 97, of Melbourne passed away on July 18, 2022. The oldest of ten children she was born on May 12, 1925 in Crisfield Maryland to Mabel and Bennett Sterling. She grew up in Crisfield then moved to Baltimore where she completed high school. She then entered the work force during the later years of WWII with Bethlehem Steel ship yard as a battleship tack welder then with Chevrolet. She then completed business school and was hired as a Secretary at the Baltimore Signal Depot and then with Glenn L Martin. As the space program ramped up she moved to Melbourne in 1958 where she completed her career working as a secretary for a variety of companies prior to retiring.
Shirley is survived by her three sons Greg, Jeff and Nick of Melbourne; granddaughter Brandi Davis (husband Phillip) and great granddaughter Sharon Davis of Palm Bay. All of whom love her dearly. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Nicholas Panasuk and second husband Joe Young.
She loved antiques, sewing, knitting, playing the organ and was an active member with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) along with the local Greek Orthodox church.
Loved by many, with never ending forgiveness and generosity, she was the best Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother one could ever hope for. She will be deeply missed.
