David Montague Scott of Melbourne, Florida, age 87, passed away on February 15, 2024 in Palm Bay, Florida. He was born on January 21, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio.

He attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. It was there where he became an active member of the United States Naval Reserve, continuing his service after moving back to Columbus in the late 1950s. He went on to have a successful career in wholesale and retail sales. Before retiring he worked for Opera Columbus and became a member of the Supernumeraries “Supers.” Upon retiring, he moved to Melbourne, Florida in 1990.

He lived his life in the words of his father – “Face the sunshine and let the shadows fall behind.” He was always the first to lend a helping hand and brought joy to all he met.

He was a member of St. Sebastian’s-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Also, he was an active volunteer for their Shop of Gulls Thrift in Indialantic, Florida.

David is predeceased by his parents Walter Harlan Scott and Cecelia Lerline Scott; stepmother Jane T. Scott and sister; Gloria Williams and his partner of many years, R. W. Amos.

He is survived by two loving daughters Susan Jane-Marie Scott of Richmond, Virginia and Sara “Sally” Scott Small (Scot); three granddaughters Hannah, Abigail and Grace of Catlett, Virginia and stepbrother Frank H. Scott of Casstown, Ohio.

Graveside services will take place at Union Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio at a later date.
