Dorothy Jennifer Grant was born in Kingston, Jamaica on December 11, 1954 to Lloyd and Daphne Hoo. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York and later relocated to Palm Bay, Florida. Dorothy began her career in hospitality and later worked as a certified nursing assistant. She was a member of the following organizations: Palm Bay Democratic Women’s Club, South Brevard NAACP Chapter and the Palm Bay Happy Lions Club. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with loved ones, tending to her plants, watching movies and drinking coffee while baking cakes for her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her siblings: Walter Hoo, Lloyd Hoo, Jr., Janet Laimont, Juliet Campbell and Joan Campbell; her children Christopher (Sharie) Hoo, Ann Hoo, Cecil (Natasha) Grant, Patricia (Dexter) Francois, Nicole Grant and Michael (Jessica) Grant.

She also leaves her grandchildren Elijah Grant, Quinisa Grant, Quiera Grant, Tsakhara (Simon) Grant, Khalil Francois, Christopher Smith, Isabella Rivera, Mikaela Grant, Levi Grant and Kaya Grant; great grandchildren Elijah Grant, Ea’Nijea Grant, Amari Grant, Nariah Little and Miles Little.

Her calling hours are from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Brownlie Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne, Florida 32901. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5330 Babcock Street, NE, Palm Bay, Florida 329057. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
