Linda Matthews Ireland

Born on December 26, 1951 in Columbia, South Carolina
Departed April 7, 2023 in Palm Bay, Florida

On April 7th, 2023, Linda Matthews Ireland was called to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Linda was born in Columbia, South Carolina on December 26th, 1951. Her parents Bill and Dorlene Matthews raised Linda and her two sisters (Billie Kay, and Donna} in Goldsboro North Carolina. Linda and her sisters enjoyed playing outside mostly as kids. The girls had a lot of adventures over the years, but one of their favorite memories was catching June bugs. Linda and her sisters would get thread, attach them to the leg of the beetles, and walk around proudly displaying them.
Linda met Charles Henry Ireland in 1969 at the burger Chef in Goldsboro North Carolina. Charles at the time was serving in the United States Airforce. They soon began dating and eventually would be married on October 21st, 1970, and moved to Melbourne Florida. In October of 1971 God blessed Charles and Linda with their first-born child Kenneth and five years later in September of 1976 God gifted them with their second child Kevin. Charles and Linda and the boys lived in Eau Gallie, Palm Bay, and eventually settled in Valkaria, Florida.
Linda worked for several different companies over the years, but the one place she admired and loved the most was Endodontic Associates of Brevard where she was employed for 25 years. Everyone who worked at the office loved Linda, would look to her for advice, and patiently anticipated when she would do something to make everyone laugh. Linda became not only lifetime friends with everyone, but was a mentor to many as well.
A celebration of life was held on July 9th at Master’s Stables in Fellsmere Florida. Family, friends and co-workers shared photos, stories, and memories of her humor, strength, and sass.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend, Linda was loved by everyone she met. Anyone who knew her could always depend on her for a good laugh and always get an honest opinion. It was in her nature to make light of things and always make everyone feel loved and special around her.
Linda was preceded in death by her father William K. Matthews and mother Doralene Wester Matthews. Linda is survived by husband Charles Ireland of the home, sons Kenneth Ireland (Michelle) of West Melbourne FL., Kevin Ireland (Nicole) of Palm Bay FL., 6 Grandchildren, Meghan, Madison, Kamden, KJ, Mackenzie, Mylee, 2 step grandchildren Taylor and Kyle, Sisters Billie Kaye Bunting (Doyle) of Zebulon NC., and Donna Haggerty (Brian) of Vero Beach FL. Linda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws, and her little fur boy bestie Winston.
Linda is gone from this Earth, but never ever forgotten.

John Sheridan from Orlando wrote on December 7, 2023:
So very sorry to read of Linda’s passing. I worked with Linda at Montgomery Wards in the early 1990’s. She was a beautiful person inside and out. My prayers to Linda’s family. May she rest in peace. John Sheridan
